Coventry Cobras VS Solent & Gosport Spatans

During the bright summer month of June 2014 your Coventry Cobras were
met at the Skydome Arena by the Solent and Gosport Spartans. This is a
team we had never played before so were optimistic about what lay ahead. Having looked at the teams they had played and finding relevant teams
to the ones we had played we assumed this would be a very close game.
As always not knowing the team couldn't bother us and we needed to go
out and give it 100% regardless. Because of the distance travelled by
the lads from Gosport there were only 11 guys so we knew that they would be undermanned straight away. With #90 Sam Laurence as captain and
#16 Adam Matter and #81 Sam Prosser as his assistants they lead the
Cobras onto the ice to get the game started. What we all witnessed
after the first puck drop nobody expected.

#81 Sam Prosser Scoring a hat-trick and assisting 3 times.
#4 Sean Doherty Scoring a double hat-trick (6 goals.... yes 6 goals) and assisting 2 times.
#20 Jason Cole scoring a goal
#21 Kieran Gannon assisting 3 times
#37 Luke Spriggs scoring 5 goals.

In the second period the boys from down south scored from two even
handed and well timed break away's against Cobras net minder
#35 Kyle Robinson. The 25th minute and the 32nd minute unfortunately
for them were their only chances of victory. Although the dedicated
Spartans had some great chances, net minder #35 Kyle Robinson made sure
he slowed them down somewhat.

Sometimes there is just no way of knowing what will happen on the day
but the boys from Gosport still announced that they had had a great time as did the Cobras and that's what recreational hockey is all about.
Bringing people together who have a fantastic common interest, Hockey.
We wish the Solent And Gosport Spartans all the best for the future and
you never know..... The cobras might have their hands full if they
return with vengeance.
