Coventry Cobras VS Sheffield Blazers
Ladies and Gentlemen, on the 10-05-2015 your Cobras team travelled
north to face one of their biggest away challenges ever. We where
invited by the Sheffield Blazers for a challenge game at the famous
Ice Sheffield arena. Face off was scheduled for 20:15 and neither team knew what to expect
from each other. This was the first time that these teams had met and
what a meet it was! The first minute of the game started with a
Blazers goal which is not quite how we wanted the start to look like.
With heads held high the Cobras settled into the new surroundings and
replied very sharply with a goal in the 3rd minute.
#90 Captain Sam Laurence assisted #81 Tomas Kostelnik with the first
Cobras goal of the night. No more than 2 minutes later
#15 Sean Doherty placed his stick in for a tip in goal to make the
score 2 Cobras and 1 Blazers. The 2nd goal came from a "D to D" Pass across the attacking blue line
from #16 Adam Matteri and the shot from #23 Scott Venus. From then on it was good, fast, strong, end to end hockey. Sheffield
equalised in the 6th minute and the Cobras replied again with their
3rd goal less than 30 seconds later. Scoring his second of the night
#81 Tomas Kostelnik assisted by #38 Stefan Milosovic and second
assisted by #96 Rob Bradnick. The first resumed and in the 31st minute
the Cobras caused a gap in the score line with their 4th goal.
A fantastic show of athleticism from #3 Peter Hudec with an unassisted
goal. The score showed 4 goals to 2 in favour of the Coventry side.
Coming into the last quarter of the first period the Blazers set about
a series of attacks on the Cobras team and they managed to steal the
win for the first 20 minutes. 3 goals where scored in the 13th, 14th
and 17th minutes. The final score for the first period was
Cobras 4 - Blazers 5. The second period started and ran very much in the favour of the
Blazers with them scoring 3 quick goals in the first 10 minutes of the
period. The Cobras first and and last goal of the period came from
another great unassisted goal from #3 Peter Hudec. That was all the
Cobras could develop in the second as the Blazers went on to score
2 more before the clock ran out in the 2nd. The score at the end of
the 2nd period was 10 goals to the Blazers and 5 to the Cobras. In the 3rd the Cobras come out to bridge the gap as much as possible.
A goal within a minute of the 3rd period face off.
#38 Stefan Milosovic scored with the help from his forward pals
#81 Tomas Kostelnik and #3 Peter Hudec. Unfortunately this was the
last bit of hope for the Cobras in this game and the Blazers kept
consistent and scored 3 more bringing the last to a close with a final
score line of Sheffield Blazers 13 - 6 Coventry Cobras.
It was a great game enjoyed by all. With many thanks to
give to those who travelled to watch and support the Cobras like always.
Keep you eyes peeled for the return game in Coventry. For more Cobras
